This is one of the best purchases I made all year, these meters have saved so many plants and trees, I’ll never go without them again. I have heavy clay soil, which retains a lot of moisture, in previous years I would follow what landscapers would say to water on a schedule for new plantings and then when they looked dry, or I didn’t have a lot of rain I would go ahead and water them as I was afraid that they would dry out. Turns out that approach with the type of soil I have actually overwatered my plant and I ended up killing so many perennials and trees. I now have one of these meters in each of my beds plus some temperamental trees and pots like olive trees and then also some new serviceberry trees in beds. While this isn’t an exact science, you can monitor these overtime and by looking at the plant and looking at the percent moisture, you can see exactly what your plant needs. You’re watering based on what it needs and not some one size fits all schedule. They’re really easy to set up, while I bought two hubs, the one hub in the backyard is also operating the beds in the front yard despite there being a long distance. They take 3023 button batteries and I put mine in in mid May, I’ve only had to replace batteries for two of the sensors and I have about 12 of them and it’s now early August. If you’re struggling to to keep your plant healthy, don’t hesitate. I started with two sensors and now have 12 if that tells you something. They’re adorable easy to use and set up and have been super accurate.

Being a newbie I needed these things to tell me when to water after researching the moisture levels that my specific plants want/need. They have worked flawlessly. Battery life is excellent. Each unit takes button battery so if you have a lot of these sensors you're going to need a ton of batteries come replacement time. I have 9 of these sensors so buy in bulk ie Costco or other warehouse club.

This unit had a high battery consumption issue which forced me to exchange the batteries every 2 days. I contacted the company and they sent me a replacement that works perfectly. Battery life is a week and still at 100%. I use this unit and it is rock solid

Dr. Plant Moisture Meter worked so well I purchased the 2 pack! The readings are consistent, battery usage has been excellent so far, and the range back to the hub is surprisingly good; it reaches across the landscape without any issues. The probe is a bit large for smaller pots, but it’s perfectly fine in larger containers and landscape beds. Overall, the app and ecosystem are solid, especially for keeping an eye on multiple zones. A very useful tool for monitoring moisture levels.
